The Landsat patch tensor
UCI Statlog Landsat Satellite (Srinivasan, 1993, CC BY 4.0): 6,435 neighbourhoods, split into 4,435 training and 2,000 test rows. Each label describes the central pixel: six soil and crop classes (codes 1–5 and 7; code 6 is absent).
One dataset, two views: a sample × feature matrix (N, 36), and a patch × row × column × band tensor N × 3 × 3 × 4. The four bands are roughly green, red and two near-infrared channels — digital sensor values, not calibrated reflectance. Flattening keeps all 36 values; it is the model, not the reshape, that can ignore the spatial structure.
Evaluation limit: the patches come from one small scene and may overlap, so no split here can establish geographic or temporal generalization.
