CP component

CP component — one rank-1 term of a CP decomposition: one vector per axis, plus a scalar holding its size. Spanish: componente CP.

T ≈ Σᵣ λᵣ · aᵣ ∘ bᵣ ∘ cᵣ

For the monkey tensor, a has one number per neuron, b one per time step, c one per trial. A component says: these neurons, at this point in the trial, on these trials. The factor matrices collect the vectors column by column — A is (43, R), B is (200, R), C is (88, R) — and column r of each belongs to component r.

This is what CP gives and Tucker does not. A Tucker core mixes every basis vector of one mode with every basis vector of the others, so there is no single term to lift out and read.
